1. Introduction

SlapBack ("the App," "we," "our," or "us") is an AI-powered messaging assistant that helps users craft better messages for personal and professional conversations. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use SlapBack.

By downloading, installing, or using SlapBack, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Profile Data: Name, age, gender, location, hobbies, interests, music and movie preferences, books, vacations and travel history, work history, and communication style preferences you enter into your user profile. This data is stored locally on your device and is used to personalize AI-generated message suggestions.

Conversation Data: Messages, screenshots, and photos you input into the App for analysis. This data is stored locally on your device and is transmitted to third-party AI services for processing (see Section 3).

Connection Data: Names, platform labels, relationship types, and active/inactive status you assign to your saved connections. This data is stored locally on your device.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Subscription Data: Purchase history and subscription status are managed by RevenueCat, Inc. and the respective app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). This includes monthly subscription plans and one-time Action Pack purchases. We do not directly collect or store your payment information.

Usage Metrics: We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data such as AI action counts and feature usage to improve the App. This data is not linked to your identity.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not require account creation, email addresses, or passwords
• We do not collect your phone number or contacts
• We do not access your device's message history, call logs, or other apps
• We do not store your data on our servers — all data is stored locally on your device
• We do not use cookies or web tracking technologies

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 AI Processing

When you request message suggestions, rewrites, or Ghost Writer output, the App sends the following to Google's Gemini API for processing:

• Your recent conversation history (limited to the most recent messages)
• Your profile data (to personalize suggestions to your voice and style)
• Any photos included in the conversation context

This data is transmitted securely through an encrypted proxy server and is processed by Google in accordance with Google's AI API Terms of Service. We do not control Google's data retention policies for API requests.

3.2 Screenshot OCR

When you upload a chat screenshot, the image is sent to Google's Gemini API for optical character recognition (text extraction). The extracted text is stored locally on your device. The original image is not retained by the App after processing.

3.3 Subscription Management

Subscription purchases, Action Pack purchases, and subscription status are handled by RevenueCat, Inc. RevenueCat may collect:

• App store purchase receipts
• Anonymous app user identifiers
• Subscription status and transaction history

RevenueCat's privacy practices are governed by their Privacy Policy.

3.4 Personalization

Your profile data (name, interests, travel history, communication rules) is used exclusively to customize AI-generated message suggestions so they sound like you, not like a generic AI. This data never leaves your device except when included in AI processing requests as described in Section 3.1.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

All user data — including your profile, saved connections, conversation logs, vault items, AI action counts, and app settings — is stored locally on your device using on-device storage. This data is not transmitted to or stored on any server we operate.

4.2 Data Retention

Your data persists on your device until you:

• Delete individual messages or connections within the App
• Use the "Reset App" feature in Settings (which erases all local data)
• Uninstall the App

4.3 Security Measures

• All API communications use encrypted HTTPS connections
• AI requests are routed through a secure proxy server with per-request authentication — your API credentials are never stored on your device
• No user data is stored on external servers under our control

6. Children's Privacy

SlapBack is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your information at all times:

• View your data: Open the Profile screen to see all stored profile information
• Edit your data: Modify any profile field, connection, or saved item directly in the App
• Delete all data: Use the "Reset App" option in Settings to permanently erase all local data
• Uninstall: Removing the App from your device deletes all locally stored data

7.2 Subscription Management

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through:

• iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
• Android: Google Play Store → Subscriptions

7.3 Opt-Out

You may stop using the App at any time. Since we do not maintain user accounts or server-side data, no additional action is required beyond uninstalling the App.

8. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

• AI-generated content may not always be accurate, appropriate, or suitable for your specific situation
• All suggestions should be reviewed by you before sending to any recipient
• Content does not constitute professional advice of any kind (legal, medical, financial, or otherwise)
• Suggestions are provided "as is" without warranty of fitness for any particular purpose

You are solely responsible for any messages you choose to send based on the App's suggestions.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
